An old superstition that dates back to the time when arranged marriages were customary is that seeing the bride in her wedding dress prior to the ceremony is bad luck. According to Bridal Guide, this is largely because it was feared that if the groom was displeased with his soon-to-be bride, he would opt out of marriage. Nowadays, though arranged marriages are quite uncommon, this superstition still stands for certain couples. There's a sense of excitement in seeing your bride for the first time as she makes her way down the aisle. Others feel that it's best to see one another prior to the ceremony in order to calm any nerves they may have.
Regardless of whether or not you follow this superstition, seeing your bride or groom for the first time on your wedding day is a magical moment that you will most likely remember for the rest of time.
