You know what they say - breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And it is - for good reason. Breakfast provides you with the energy and nutrients needed to maintain concentration and focus throughout the day. According to Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, breakfast is also very important in maintaining body weight. Those who are looking to lose weight should never skip the first meal of the day.

What's the ideal breakfast? There are an abundance of foods that you can start your day with that will have you satisfied and ready to take on the day. Personally, I like to start my day with some fresh fruit and a bowl of oatmeal. Some days I'll opt for eggs and toast, topped with a little avocado. And on those days where I'm treating myself, I'll go with something sweeter - like waffles or french toast. With so many options for breakfast, it's hard to go wrong.

Below, Chef Eric Greenspan takes many elements of breakfast that we know and love, and puts them all together. But it's not a messy hodgepodge of assorted foods; rather it's carefully crafted and layered and cooked to perfection. Are you ready for breakfast lasagna? Ever heard of it?

Breakfast lasagna may seem a bit labor-intensive, but when you see the payoff you might be convinced. It would make a great meal if you have the whole family over or if you're hosting a sleepover for your children. So, what do you think? Would you ever try this out in your kitchen?
