You only get one first salute, so better put it to good use, right? I think this grandfather and granddaughter did it just right when they did this in front of family and friends. After his granddaughter officially became a Second Lieutenant in the Marines, Grandpa, a retired Staff Sargent US Marines knew exactly what he had to do.
Seeing the generations represented in this video and the touching sentiment behind the first salute brought instant tears to my eyes. I remember seeing some of my closest friends conduct their first salutes with certain individuals and the whole thing is just beautiful to watch. The sense of honor and respect that a salute encompasses is a tradition that all generations can learn from.

When I watch this video, I see nothing but a proud and loving grandfather wanting to honor his granddaughter with a salute. The family and friends filming nearby get emotional as they witness the precious moment unfold and I can see why.
