Most of us spend a chunk of time staring at our phone screens during the day. Some of our readers are likely reading this sentence on a smart phone, but there might be a health risk you didn't know about - neck fatigue. The medical consequences of spending too much time looking at your phone might surprise you.
According to a recent study by spine specialist Dr. Kenneth K. Hansraj, the stress put on your neck while looking at a smartphone may lead to permanent damage. Injuries don't happen overnight - instead Dr. Hansraj suggests that it may take several years for your spine to start seeing the affects of the stress.
For now, if you can't commit to looking at your screen less, the most important thing is awareness. Try to keep your neck in a straight position when looking at your cell phone for extended periods. Proper posture eliminates most of the chance of injury.
