Fork Becomes Makeshift Door Lock In This Project

Nowadays, home security has a level of sophistication that rivals high-profile establishments like banks or casinos. The sort of security cameras that record high definition frames per second and feature laser beam sensors and multi-layer lock systems (previously reserved solely for government security buildings or banks holding millions of dollars) now have become commonplace for many modern-day homes.

With burglaries and crime slowly creeping out into typically safe suburban neighborhoods, those who can afford it are seemingly more likely to invest in these security measures. However, it would seem that while personal security has become more sophisticated, so have the ways for criminals to bypass said systems. An over-reliance on computer-powered security systems has, in some cases,  merely given criminals another (maybe even easier) avenue to pass through security unnoticed.

That being said, it would seem that some of the most tried-and-true methods of security still work best. A computerized locking mechanism controlled via your smartphone may seem more secure than a traditional deadbolt; however, it really might not be. As easy as it is for you to lock your doors with a smart phone, it can be just as easy for a criminal to unlock it with his own smart phone.

That's where this handy hack comes into play. In a pinch and need to lock your door? Well, using an old fork, you can latch your door shut with ease and give yourself a medieval form of security.
