Ryan Nelson and his friend Matt had been best friends since their diaper days, but when a fire engulfed their college house, all of that changed. Ryan risked his life and entered the burning building to rescue his friend, and though he was able to pull Matt out of the blaze, unfortunately Matt did not survive. That's when this story takes a silver-lining twist.

It turns out that Matt was an organ donor, and as such, Ryan's heroic attempt to save him from the fire made it possible for Matt to still donate his organs after he passed. 60 people will end up benefiting from Ryan's efforts, including a Vietnam veteran who is alive today thanks to Matt's heart which currently beats inside the vet's chest. We'd love to know what you thought of Ryan's actions, and share this video if you found it as heart breaking and uplifting as we did.
