It seems like a very simple concept that we've been taught at a very young age. If something doesn't belong to you, take the time to find out who it belongs to and return it to them. Somewhere between our adolescence and adulthood, however, our attitudes change (or becomes jaded) and this philosophy becomes less prevalent.
In this brilliant social experiment, children are placed in a predicament that most of us are all too familiar with. At one point in our lives we have either dropped a wallet of found one on the ground. There are plenty of videos circulating the internet showing how grown adults respond when they come across a found wallet. Spoiler alert, while there is the occasional good samaritan, all too often the adults don't do the right thing.
It's refreshing to see that every child in this video picked up the wallet and returned it to its rightful owner. Obviously we can't know exactly what these children are thinking, but it seems to me that the only hesitation they have revolves around the odd scenario itself, not on whether or not they should return the wallet. Even at that young age, they know the right thing to do.
This video isn't meant to paint all adults in a bad light as there are so many amazingly selfless people in the world, but it does act as a beautiful reminder of the innocence of our youth. How important is it that these values stay intact throughout our lives? Well, perhaps I'll be asking the question the next time I lose my wallet.
