In an Oklahoma Walmart, a mother was food shopping with her two young daughters. In a flash, everything would change. As Mom fished through some frozen items, 37-year-old Sammie Wallace snatched her 2-year-old daughter and held a knife to the young girl. All bystanders could do was watch in shock and horror. 911 was called and shortly 3 police officers arrived on the scene. They offered the suspect - who had a violent arrest record and a history of mental illness - a chair, in hopes that he wouldn't move.
Police had trouble making advancements with their usual tactics, as the suspect began counting down from 60 and moved the knife close to the 2-year-old's throat. Then their moment came. As captain David Huff crouched in front of the man, another officer spoke with him in order to distract him. As the suspect's head swiveled from left to right, Huff took his chance and shot the man at point blank range. The toddler was soon reunited with her sister and mother.
