"Amazing Grace" is one of the most beautiful songs when done properly. So when I heard what this a capella group could do, I just had to share it as quickly as possible. The performance starts off simply enough, with one elegant voice echoing through the venue, but when the entire ensemble puts their imprint on this classic, I just shut my eyes and listened to the harmony.
The hymn was composed in 1772 by
John Newton and made its debut on New Years Day, 1773. Since then, the powerful song has been performed a countless number of times and in a variety of genres. While typically accompanied by music, there is something raw and pure about the performance in the video below that makes it more magical.
This performance at the Riverside County Church of Christ is a prime example of taking a classic work of art and putting a tasteful spin on it. They took a song we all know and love and made it their own by pouring their heart and soul into each microphone. I can only imagine how the audience members felt while they were watching this happen live.
They have such a beautiful harmony that I'm still listening to it on repeat. It's just so soothing. What did you think of their performance? Do you like it better a capella, or would you have preferred accompanying music? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below, and please spread their sound if you enjoyed it as much as I did.
