It took six months for Tom BetGeorge to plan the perfect proposal for his girlfriend Teri Lynch, and by the end he had choreographed a celebration that included over a hundred performers. BetGeorge, a music teacher at the Conservatory of Vocal and Instrumental Arts in Oakland, California, used many of his students to form the cast of the elaborate proposal.
In the video footage, BetGeorge stages a fake volleyball tournament to hook Lynch into the festivities. In the middle of the tournament, "Marry You" by Bruno Mars begins playing, and Lynch instantly seems to pick up on what's happening, covering her face with her hands.
After a series of singing and dancing performances, the proposal climaxes with a barrage of confetti inside Centerville Presbyterian Church in Fremont, California. Awaiting in the church was BetGeorge, dressed in a tuxedo and bearing a ring. Lynch said yes.
The proposal, shot on 11 cameras, was uploaded to YouTube on June 2, 2015. The video received several hundred thousand views within a few months, but it's not the first time one of BetGeorge's videos has gained Internet fame. In December 2014, a video of BetGeorge's choreographed Christmas lights was picked up by major news outlets and quickly accumulated millions of hits on YouTube.
The pair is scheduled to tie the knot on Jan. 2 of next year in Tracy, California.
